Les Glaces Racontent – Frozen Archives

In November 1992, ‘Les Glaces Racontent – Frozen Archives’ put the story of Danish ice core research on the international agenda with a large-scale, European travel exhibition, which HRH Prince Joachim officially inaugurated at The House of Denmark; Denmark’s showcase situated on the Champs Elysées, Paris, France. A thrilling and interactive travelling story about the Greenland Ice Core Project (GRIP), which was funded by the Danish Ministry of Education, and administered by the Danish Polar Center. We were responsible for exhibition design.

Ice cores from the Greenland ice sheet capture extensive information about past climate conditions. They tell us how the Earth’s temperature has changed over more than 100,000 years. Layers of rain and snow effectively store a thermometer. This reveals the temperature of the cloud from which the precipitation fell. A discovery we can thank geophysicist Willi Dansgaard (1922-2011) and his research team for. In July 1992, they made climate research history by hitting the bedrock at a depth of 3029 metres with the ice core drill, ISTUK.

New Køng Museum Masterplan

KØNG is the conceptual title for the master plan and the frame narrative about Køng Factory, 1774-1924. The story of how society’s poorest wove the finest tablecloths for the Danish king’s table. KØNG contains the complete story, from flax flower to Køng Factory. Of how the Køng city developed and flourished.

Kvorning Design is responsible for the master plan and frame story about the New Køng Museum in Denmark with an interactive concept, which is based on the city, the flower, the textile production and the finished royal tablecloth. And not least the people behind it. Staged and brought to life as a total experience. The design has been created for Køng Museum’s Support Association, Denmark.

Hurtigruten Museum Concept

Kvorning Design and Bright Norway revitalize Norway’s rich and proud coastal history with exhibition concept for the New Hurtigruten Museum at Stokmarknes in Vesterålen, Norway.

MS Finnmarken from 1956 – one of the world’s largest museum objects behind glass – stands as a monument to the lifeblood of transport along the Norwegian coast. Link arkitektur’s iconic building is a giant showcase on the harbour front, the birthplace of the Hurtigruten more than 100 years ago.

Norway’s Minister of Culture, Abid Raja, inaugurates the museum on August 28, 2021.

The exhibition is realised as turnkey and won in international competition.
