Kvorning Design creates a new exhibition at the upgraded and re-opened Whaling Museum located in Sandefjord in Southern Norway. ‘We Were Out to Get Whales’ shares the story about Norway’s first oil adventure – whale oil.

The history of whaling is long and comprehensive. The exhibition focuses on untold themes lending the participants a voice. ‘We Were Out to Get Whales’ is a quotation from Norwegian shipowner Lars Christensen’s book ‘Such is the Antarctic’ from 1935, about the background for his long involvement in catching and research in the Antarctic. The exhibition is largely based on the museum’s photographic and film collections, objects and archives, as well as loaned material.

The new, permanent exhibition won in international competition is developed in close collaboration with the museum.
